Beginning Knitting Classes
Have you always wanted to learn to knit? This is your chance! In this Beginning Knitting class you’ll learn how to cast on, cast off, knit, and purl. Once you’ve mastered these skills, we’ll move on to reading a knitting pattern which you’ll use to knit your very own Basketweave Scarf.
This class is offered in two formats:
For the ultimate Beginner, you’ll be provided with 1 skein of Peace Fleece Wool/Mohair yarn in the color of your choice, size 8 needles, and a tapestry/darning needle. If this appeals to you, select the ‘Kit Included’ option.
If you already have yarn and needles, you can opt to sign up by selecting ‘Instruction Only’.
Can you take this class with a friend? Absolutely! Select ‘2’ when adding the class to your basket. Although the system allows you to sign up more than 2 people, we allow a maximum of 2 people per class so as to give each student the utmost attention. You’re welcome to sign up more than 2 people during check out, but we’ll ask that you enroll in separate sessions with a maximum of 2 students for each session when we call to arrange scheduling.
We’ll meet at Gorges Fiber Arts located at 195 Main Street in Historic downtown Owego, NY. This class is offered on the following days/times:
Wednesdays/Thursdays starting between 3:00- 4:00; Fridays starting between 12:00-3:00, and Saturdays 2:00-4:00.
Classes are taught one-on-one, unless you sign up with a friend!
The class meets for two hours for 2 consecutive weeks. You’ll need time to practice your skills for a week before moving on to knitting your scarf. After signing up you’ll get an email from the instructor to confirm the day and time you’d like to come in for the class, please be sure to allow emails from: gorgesfiber@gmail.com. After taking the class, we’ll still be available to help you with your project at no extra cost, just come in, have a seat, and we’ll help you—you’re in the club!
Refund / Class credit policy: We cannot offer refunds unless we cancel the class, in which case you will be fully refunded for the missed session(s).
